JWRA and Lane Greene provided the architectural
restoration design to fit modern code requirements while retaining as much
of the theater's original design as possible. Since this was such an unusual
project only hand drafting was performed (no CADD). There had been a
feasibility
study and minor repairs, over the years, as grants permitted. The program
demanded creative solutions to anumber of problems:
Original molded-plywood seats were not recoverable but period upholstered
seats were salvaged from another theatre circa 1920's and were refurbished.
