The new Early County Satellite Center is seated on a hill, on a heavily wooded site, enhancing visibility to approaching traffic and assisting in establishing the building as being the dominate fixture within its vicinity. The 28,000 s.f. building is a 1 story, slab-on-grade brick building. Sun-screened windows provide control against heat gain. The program provides various classrooms, administrative, laboratory and ancillary spaces. Further expansion of the campus will occur off the hill toward the east side of the 26 acre site. Central to the plan is a 1,100 s.f. library and partially covered study patio. There are separate mechanical and building services provided for each of the building’s two wings, assisting in the mechanical zoning of the facility.
