The Atlanta
Municipal Court Building located at 170 Garnett Street construction was
completed in 1991. The first floor shell space (8910 s.f.) was designated as
a future courtroom with supporting spaces.
The new municipal courtroom will have a seating capacity of
160 spectators/police officers pew type benches. The judge’s bench and wood
wall paneling will match the existing courtrooms on the upper levels. The
supporting spaces provided are records with two retrieval units, warrants,
community courts, community court social development, pre trial, victim
witness, cashier, male and female public toilets and a secured corridor for
prisoner’s movement with toilet facilities.
The prisoner movement, court employees and the court judges
are provided with secured and separate entrance into the space.
