Providing High Quality Design Services Since 1970

Established by Joseph W. Robinson, Sr. FAIA (J.W. Robinson in The New Georgia Encyclopedia) in 1970, J. W. Robinson & Associates, Inc. (JWRA) is an architecture / interior design / urban planning firm.

Today the firm has a diversified practice that includes an impressive depth and range of projects. Our mature staff of professionals is composed of registered architects and production specialists trained in every aspect of project design and management. They continue a tradition of commitment set by the principal, maximizing aesthetics and functionality to give our client the best value for their dollar.

JWRA is committed to the use of technology to advance the delivery of our services. Precision and efficiency of service delivery is paramount in our work model. To this end, we have fully embraced the utilization of Revit (BIM) in our professional services. Utilization of a BIM model allows JWRA to offer the Client/Owner a superior project; a project that is better coordinated and accurate. It offers the Owner/Design Team the ability to make informed decisions, synchronized design and produce very accurate construction documents. The design team and project stake holders further benefit from very accurate determination of quantities, better project planning using 3D techniques, instantaneous design change management, earlier visualization, detection of potential spatial conflict before construction and enhanced collaboration with other project disciplines.

Currently we are utilizing Revit which is compatible with AutoCAD, the traditional industry standard. Collaboration is further enhanced through the use of a dedicated Revit Server which hosts our BIM models and is available to our consultants and design partners over a VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnel and a fiber internet service. Cloud and FTP services are also utilized to maximize communication and collaborative efforts. Collaboration with a project’s Construction Manager and it’s BIM model is also proving to be beneficial and is showing promise during the construction phases.

We approach each project with the philosophy that: 1) the most important time spent on any project is planning and programming; 2) a building should reflect its intended use; 3) a building should welcome the users and occupants; 4) a building should meet its intended function and; 5) the design must honor the client’s time and budgetary concerns. Our experience represents a marriage of traditional values, new technology and innovative thought, enabling the firm to meet design challenges in whatever form they are presented.
